Visible-Light-Induced Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine B Dye Using a CuS/ZnS p-n Heterojunction Nanocomposite under Visible-Light Irradiation

The aim of this work was to investigate a new, simple, one-pot combustion synthesis technique for creating sulphur-based CuS/ZnS p-n heterojunction nanocomposite photocatalysts. This study examined the photocatalytic activity and reusability these nanocomposites in removing rhodamine B (RhB) dye under visible-light irradiation. Various methods characterisation were employed determine properties materials, including particle morphology, crystalline phases, bandgap energy. intrinsic reaction parameters, such as catalyst loading, pH level solution, initial pollutant concentration, varied establish optimal photodegradation conditions. results showed that binary with 10 g L−1 at 5, degraded 97% 5 ppm RhB after 270 min visible light Additionally, composite exhibited excellent chemical stability reusability, achieving 83% removal five recycling runs. Scavenger tests identified photogenerated holes (h+) superoxide free radicals (•O2) primary reactive species responsible degradation. provides valuable insight into design highly efficient nanomaterials organic pollutants wastewater, possible mechanism is proposed.
